Senior Circuit Judge Retirement: Her Honour Judge Lesley Anne Newton

Her Honour Judge Lesley Anne Newton retires as a Senior Circuit Judge with effect from 27 June 2021.

  • Her Honour Judge Newton (66) was called to the Bar (Middle Temple) in 1977 and elected a Bencher in 2019. She was appointed an Assistant Recorder in 1995, a Recorder in 1999, a Circuit Judge in 2001, a Member of the Family Justice Council from 2004 to 2011 and was the Director of Family Training at the Judicial College from 2011 to 2017. She was appointed a Senior Circuit Judge in 2014 and was the Designated Family Judge for Greater Manchester from 2014 to 2020. She was elected as President of the Council of Her Majesty's Circuit Judges in 2016.
