The At A Glance Conference 2019

'The specialist financial remedies event'

  • Thursday 17th October 2019
The Institute of Engineering & Technology, London

The At A Glance Conference, now in its 5th year, is firmly established as the must attend event for all financial remedy practitioners. Over that time, it has garnered a reputation for providing an entertaining, fast moving programme that tackles the cutting-edge issues of the day and all presented by pre-eminent practitioners in the field.

This year's event, chaired again by Mr Justice Mostyn, will be no different. We have gathered a formidable team of speakers, drawn from the full spectrum of professions now involved in financial remedies, to keep you entertained and informed throughout the day.

Baroness Deech opens proceedings bringing her customary controversial views on divorce fiances up to date in the light of various proposed reforms and Bills currently negotiating Parliament.

Also bringing us up to date will be Alexis Campbell QC with her analysis of the key cases from the past year; Richard Todd QC on the current thinking around nuptial agreements and HHJ Edward Hess on the continuing stream of innovative initiatives  emerging from the Financial Remedies Court project.

In between, a raft of speakers will educate you on a range of practice points that frequently crop up in daily practice. Sofia Thomas, a tax expert, will highlight some of the tax pitfalls inherent when dealing with overseas income or assets while Charlie Graham, an experienced private investigator will explain when and how to make the best, admissible use of private investigators. Two shorter 'flash' talks will cover the knotty issues of protecting spousal income in the event of death and how to ensure security for lump sums.

Finally, and unavoidably, Amy Kisser of QEB will review the effect of Brexit on jurisdiction, whether or not we are in or our by the date of the conference.

This packed, varied programme ensures that you will leave armed with fresh insights on the critical developments in financial remedies and increased confidence that you can handle more complex issues when they crop up in your daily practice.

The full programme and details on how to book can be found here.
